Human, the fourth album of Frank von Bogaert is
his most “organic” album so far. The music is atmospheric, textured and
melodious, but not in a structured sort of way. This CD is far more spontaneous
than his early work and hence seems to explore “freefall” the forms of music he
is so good at. The music reminds me of a sort of experimental Vangelis with
some very moving instrumental textures combined with the best of electronica.
I especially like the range of Human, it seems to cover many genres of
music and makes itself very hard to pin down, there
are “moods” for reflection, more upbeat pieces as well as more relaxed and
atmospheric tracks. It has a very organic feel where the music just moves where
it wants to go, it is very natural, flowing and
moving. Very highly recommended.
Geographic
Frank von Bogaert
Geographic is a fusion of electronic and world music. It is a fascinating
mixture of Vangelis and Enigma type sound carried through with World Music and
strong use of instruments and melody. This combination creates a superb
experience which is quite powerful. Rather than being world music in the
“modern sense”, it brings a strong use of a wide range of instruments into a
primarily electronic form, creating a strong story line with emotional impact.
Geographic especially impresses me as it is not “just” electronica
with instruments but shows a real mastery of both forms bringing them together
to create a quite unique CD.
