How
to Cook Children
A Grisly Cookbook
Martin Howard and Colin Stimpson
ABC Books 2008
"If there's
any greater happiness than smelling a small child gently simmering in the pot
then I'm sure I don't know what it is," says Esmelia Sniff in her foreword
to How to Cook Children. Esmelia Sniff (eight times winner of the
World's Stinkiest Crone Award) presents a dazzling collection of recipes from
around the world that will have any witch drooling with delight.
Whether you're
in the mood for a sizzling Bratwurst sausage from Germany – stuffed with real
brats – or an exotic Indian Moppet Paneer, this books is full of great flavours
presented by some of the world's nastiest witches. For those who are lucky
enough to have a sweet tooth there are also great dessert ideas. You won't be
able to resist Nanny Todd's deliciously sticky Apple Betty or Esmelia's own
crunchy Flat Jacks!
Featuring her
own opinion of every witch in the book, Esmelia's passion for turning the most
unpromising child into a tasty meal is infectious. And throughout she also
reminds us that every mouthful helps rid the world of these pestilential
creatures.
Beautifully
illustrated and with easy-to-follow instructions for dishes that are dripping
with cruelty, this utterly mouth-watering book is one that every witch has been
waiting for.
Bon Appetit!
This is a
rather fun and amusing cookbook for both the young and the dark at heart. It is
superbly illustrated, filled to the brim with classic imagery of witches,
cooking and children in various states of preparation ! While it may be aimed
at the teen audience, anyone with a gothic sense of style will want this in
their collection.
The quality of
the illustrations throughout the book are exceptional. Martin Howard is a well
respected writer, author of The Bad Dog's Diary and Colin Stimpson is an
English illustrator who is the art Director and Production Designer for Walt
Disney Feature animation and was behind the illustrations of The Poison
Diaries, together they have created a uniquely amusing and entertaining work.
