Barbarian Queen is also known as the Queen of the Naked Steel and is a stunningly B Grade sword and sorcery tale. Supposedly set during the days of the Roman Empire, it features outrageous dialogue, ridiculous plot twist, silly acting and garish outfits.

A village is raided by Roman troops during the wedding of Argon and his feisty woman Amathea, while most of the villagers are either killed or dragged off as slaves. Amathea, hides under her hut and sets it on fire and hence survives to fight another day. Together with two other scantily clad female warriors they set off to liberate their people.

After various clashes and skirmishes, they are led into an underground location in which rebels live while planning a revolt against the Romans. The rebels have thus far been unwilling to fight, but Amathea gets them all fired up and they together they hatch a plan to overthrow the tyrant.

Along the way Barbarian Queen spends a lot of time focusing on scantily clad women, showing as much tit as possible and at times it seems pre-occupied with women getting manhandled and raped. There are some truly outrageous scenes including one where the torturer is using a metal hand to supposedly “torture” Amathea’s breasts and then as he has his way with her she is “too tight” and holds his member captive forcing him to let her go !

Barbarian Queen is literally packed with truly bizarre scenes, the weirdest dialogue one can image and lots of nasty men taking advantage of woman and sexy woman belting up men, Lana Clarkson looks great but I am not sure what more I can say. It is one of those films which is just so damn bad it is good !

I laughed all the way through even though it wasn’t made as a comedy !  It is such a B grade cult film, it is definitely worth seeing. Extras on the DVD are a trailers of a range of other fantasy films from Big Sky Video, the trailer for The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik Yaks has to be seen to be believed !
