The movie opens with some hazy camcorder
footage. We see some young students, preparing to party for their graduation.
The partying increases reaching the pretty drunk with related vomiting. There
is then some rather blurred footage followed by tears and screaming, what has
happened to their friend Angel ?
The answer to that question and what at
first seems to be Angels revenge drives the suspense
in this quite appealing horror film.
Some twelve years later and Gabriel
(Alvaro Morales) is a forensic surgeon, he lives by himself, had not married
and is haunted by what happened at he beach so long ago. He feels extreme guilt
as he had dated Angel as a school “bet” and her subsequent humiliation lead to
her suicidal jump off the cliff.
Now, of course she seems to be taking
revenge with everyone involved being killed in rather brutal ways. But is it
really Angel or is the story more complicated.
This is a better than average Chilean
horror with solid suspense, good acting and some rather brutal murders. There
is a fair share of blood and gore and some solid autopsy scenes
!
The film quality is decidedly average
with regular artifacts, blotchy pixels, and rather muted colors. The subtitles
are in very questionable English and in white, so they vanish into the film at
regular intervals. A shame really, this is a good film let down by a very
average release.
