With almost two million internet play streams since 2002, Priscilla Hernández’ dedicated fan base continues to multiply. Yet in a desire to remain true to the spirit of her music, she declined various music contracts and founded Yidneth, her own record label and publishing company that takes name from her illustrated book project.

Ancient Shadows is her first full-length album and it is a superb mix of ethereal gothic and new age, ambient and world sounds. It is haunting, beautiful and moving. The album is really quite an astounding achievement considering all the pieces are written, arranged and performed by Hernández herself. Ancient Shadows: The Ghost and the Fairy is a concept album and comes with two fully illustrated booklets which explain the song tales which lead you through the dreamlike world she creates. Ancient Shadows is clearly inspired by old fairy books, ghost tales and gothic literature, as you listen to the music you can see a landscape of haunted houses, mourning willows, graveyards, fairies and spirits which move effortlessly between this world and the next. It is a dimension of both immense beauty and yet melancholy and sadness. We do not see many concept albums today and it is lovely to experience an album with 19 unique tracks tied together in concept, spirit and performance. This is quite a listening experience.

Priscilla Hernández has a beautiful voice which is of the highest caliber and the music itself is masterfully performed, the mixture of light and darkness, the ghost and the fairy, the new age and the gothic makes this a sure winner.
