Satanik was an Italian noir comic book created in 1964 by Max Bunker, who was the author and Magnus, who was the artist.  The comic was a great success and was marked by a sexy female lead and a Jekyll and Hyde storyline, packed with action and laced with crime. It was published in stark black and white as a digest and continued for some ten years. In 1968 Piero Vivarelli created a movie using some of the same themes but adapted for the big screen.  Polish model Magda Konopka plays Dr. Marnie Bannister who is working with another scientist to develop a youth serum; she is disfigured as in the comic. They have successfully developed the serum however it comes with the very dangerous side effect of exaggerating the innate cruelty, violence and aggression within the patient. Dr. Bannister takes the potion and in short order becomes a stunning Euro babe who stabs her fellow scientist to death and begins forming a crime empire !

This is a sexy, Euro Sixties film packed with babes, crime, murder and police investigations. It is especially remembered for the way in which Dr.Bannister does hot strip tease numbers.

The soundtrack is a superb mix of Sixties jazz, Euro riffs and orchestral pieces. It actually stands the test of time rather well and is still a very strong score.  Tracks range from laid back and romantic to jazzy, Middle Eastern mood tracks to free improvisation Sixties sounds.

This is the very first release of the Satanik soundtrack and Beat Records have done a great job ! It sounds superb and comes in a jewel case with a full colour 8-page booklet containing synopsis, background notes, reproductions of lobby cards and images from the movie.
